The grounds of the Biltmore are beautiful. We started out in the Gardens below the house. While beautiful we could see that we needed to come back when the garden is in bloom. No photography was allowed in the house, but the house is really something you should see in person. All the little details would be hard to capture in a photo.

We traveled to Hot Springs, North Carolina this weekend to be with friends and have some fun. Hot Springs lies along the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina near the Tennessee border.
The leaves were just starting to turn and it was cool in the mornings, making it a great time to go. We did fit in a rafting trip down parts of the French Broad River. The water was a little low but we still had fun. (no pictures of the rafting... I was afraid of getting the camera wet)

We ended Saturday night around the campfire.

After dinner we enjoyed a little challenge between the sexes.

When it came time for dinner Saturday night Bobby once again grilled an amazing meal. That is once we figured out a way to light the grill.

Saturday morning we started with a little shooting. We had found a farm which had stations setup for sport clays. Everyone took a turn shooting.

Last weekend the family got together to celebrate my, Paula's and Kim's birthdays. Paula had already committed to a golf tournament (which she came in 2nd) so she couldn't make it and Jerry had to work, but the rest of us had a great time. Kim and I turned the BIG 4-0 this year but are holding our own. We may not be able to dance like the young whippersnappers on the Wii but we can still hang.

For my big 4-0 birthday, we went down to Edisto Beach to relax, drink, eat and celebrate.

The theme of the weekend!

Jerry's famous "beach shirt" that he created all by himself. I know - it's nice.
